Louis uses reportage and portraiture to document and tell stories relevant to modern times and occasionally writes and interviews as part of this process. In recent years, he has given a fresh perspective on the situations in Libya, Afghanistan and Haiti. He has a great track record in getting these projects published internationally (In titles such as Guardian Weekend, Sunday Times, Geo, Stern, Aftenposten and so on).

Increasingly he is looking to exhibit his work and follow long-term and personal projects. His series Desk Job, exploring globalization, through the eyes of the office worker, has been selected for Format Photography Festival, the Renaissance Photography prize and has been exhibited at Scotland’s, Street Level Photoworks. It is an indication of the direction that Louis is keen to follow. He was awarded Arts Council funding in June 2014 for his most recent project exploring the aftermath of the Afghan war from the perspective of British military families. The work is scheduled to tour from September 2015, starting at Four Corners gallery in London.

He has twice been a finalist at the National Portrait Gallery (London) annual exhibition and is held in their permanent collection. He lectures on a regular basis, was invited to talk at the Guardian Master Class and asked by The British Embassy to run a workshop in photojournalistic storytelling in Azerbaijan. He is regularly commissioned for editorial assignments, portraits and commercial work; and is represented by the French picture agency, Picture Tank.
